Roome ton gets town back on track

After two disappointing defeats at the hands of Cronkbourne on the opening day of the season (21st May) and a resurgent Valkyres (28h April) it took an exceptional batting display from Garreth Roome to get town back to winning ways.

Garreth opening the batting against Crosby on 5th May and smashed a quick fire 106 to set an imposing total of 267. Mark Williams was second highest scorer with a stylish 69 on a good batting track.

In reply Crosby started well with Kevin Kniveton making 37 and the swashbuckling Ross Berry making 20 until Garreth Roome once again go in on the action and clean bowled Berry. As the day unfolded it looked like a good chase was on the cards until Richard Jackson accounted for both Danny and brother Kevin Kniveton the same over.

Boom Boom Morris was then brought into the attack by stand in skipper Greg Tomlinson and proceeded to take 4 cheap wickets to snub all hopes of a Crosby repost. Harry Rothwell was the last man out with Crosby closing on 132, leaving Castletown to grad the first points of the season.
