Match Report - B Team vs Union Mills. By Greg Tomlinson

Posted on 26/06/2013 in News

Castletown B played a really good game this evening against table topping Union Mills.

Jackson Paul (pinch hitting) and Simon Mckeon gave us an excillirating (JP) and solid (SM) start with the bat. A welcome return to form from Blackhurst and another contribution from the Butler, with Brendan 'The Sponge' Coleman soaking up all the bowling at one end saw CCC finishing on 129.

Butler opened the bowling and a solid, tight and wicket taking spell started the innings. Tom Mushy Kennaugh came on first change from the pavilion end & stuck to his principles giving it plenty of air and clean bowled danger man Wagstaffe. Dr. ManJo Patel & Richard Taylor brought the Millers back into the game with some cultured and big hitting. Wickets fell at the death and with Union Mills needing 9 runs off the last two overs and Taylor still at the crease and four wickets in hand, a triple wicket maiden off the penultimate over and the last wicket falling in the last over saw CCC 2nd's win by 5 runs.

Scorecard to follow after I've drank this pint in the sidings....
